Through an open and competitive bidding process, Power Systems of WesTrac China successfully signed up another 12 units of 3406C Marine generator sets after the successful delivery of the previous four Rescue Vessels NH206/207/208/209 rebuild
project. Caterpillar diesel generator sets are being used for the first time on rescue vessels in CNOOC oilfield. The 12*3406C generator sets are for the re-powering of the original vessel which previously used competitive units.
CNOOC is the largest customer in the Marine market in China with a total number of 87 oilfield rescue vessels, tug boats and traffic boats. Due to historical reasons, generator sets used in CNOOC’s vessels have previously been alternative brand engines and although the market is very competitive, through the hard work of the Power Systems Marine team members we have won back this market with many contracts to supply Caterpillar generator sets.
Title: Auxiliary SB series of Belgium for Xinhe shipyard (Total 9 boats)

Several contracts for a total of 18 units of Caterpillar generator sets have been signed between Xinhe Shipyard and Power Systems. There are six units for the 1st batch: SB313、SB314、SB315、SB316、SB408 and SB409, 10 units of 500kW and 800kW generator sets & two further sets for the 2nd batch: SB502 and SB502 with 4 units of 500kW and one vessel for the 3rd batch: SB505. Each of the SB313、SB314、SB315、SB316、SB408 and SB409 are fitted with 2 X 3412C Caterpillar Engines and 500kW AVK (Leroy Somer) generators to meet IP44 protection requirements. The control and alarm systems have been updated by the application engineers to meet the request for unattended surveillance. One of the two units obtained the B.V. certification issued by France.
Title: Holland IHC series - dredging vessels (Total of 17)

Through the joint cooperation between Power Systems Division and Holland IHC the world famous manufacturer & designer of dredging vessels the “Qingdao BEIYA ONE” was successfully put into trial operation. “BEIYA ONE” was installed with 3 X 3516B Caterpillar Marine Engines. One of the 3516B engines is operated by an “electrical shaft” drive system & was successfully up in running through the efforts of Power Systems engineers. PSD is the second successful CAT dealer to deal with this type of drive system beside Pon Power, the CAT dealer in Holland. The effort and excellent technical skills of our application engineers earnt us the preferred engine supplier for IHC dredging vessels. After “BEIYA ONE” another 16 vessel supply contracts has been signed between Power Systems and Holland IHC. These include: IHC2500, SB412, IHC1600, SB605, and SB606. GDC1, 2 and 3, 13 Bureaus, IHC No.1 and No.2 IHC, SB612 and SB708, as well as including the four assembly contracts.

After the successful completion of Marine propulsion engine gen-sets for 8 units of 848 series for the Bangladesh fishing boat project early in 2006, Power Systems has recently signed another contract for 4 sets of 868 series. Each of the 868 series consists of 1 3508 marine propulsion engine and 2 3406c marine diesel generators. 4
fishing boats were delivered to the end-user in May 2007.

Power systems have successfully signed the contract for 5 Caterpillar Marine Propulsion Engine and Generator sets with Heilongjiang Maritime Bureau. It was via competitive bidding for a 45-meter maritime patrol craft project. As this is the first time Caterpillar Diesel Engines are being installed, these projects have drawn the attention of the Ministry of Communications and Maritime affairs and Caterpillar has recognized that this is truly a milestone project.
Title: Generator sets for Australian ore platform (Total of 6)

The CHEC AUSTRALIAN Project consists of two vessels officially operated in Australia. There are FOTB (Floating Offshore Transfer Barge)and SUB (Self-unloading Barges). FOTB comprises 3 X 3512B, 1 X3406 Marine Gen-sets and 2 X 3406C marine gen-sets for SUB. The entire project comes with electric automation control with high system demand and digital communication systems. The power plant station has used centralized remote control for each engine to start and to stop. SUB and FOTB have full wireless remote control with automatic load operation functions. The successful on-site commissioning took approximately two months to complete.

The BGP PIONEER project saw the successful commissioning and delivery at S.T MARINE shipyard in Singapore. This is the first cooperation between Siemens and the Marine Segment of Power Systems in an electrical propulsion vessel as well as the Caterpillar Asia regional MEC (Marine Excellence Centre) for completion of such a project. The vessels used 2 X CAT3516B marine propulsion engines and 1x3406C Diesel Generator.
